For nearly 3 years now I’ve been using Lunarpages web hosting, and every now and then I have to contact their support. Rarely has it ever been a problem with service. Mostly it’s to install a new Perl module I need to use. But everytime, no matter what day or time it is over in the states, they send me back friendly emails to say it’s been installed within an hour.
This time there was a small problem with my website, so I tried out their IRC browser chat with their support staff. A couple of minutes later my problem was fixed, and once again I felt hope that good support is still available in the world. But for product I get and price it costs, I’m surprised they offer any support.
Lunarpages, if you’re listening, I hope you one day offer dedicated servers, or hopefully support rsync to make life much easier and quicker for uploads. Keep up the great work!
I think writing this blog post jinxed me, because since I wrote this I’ve had may problems with Lunarpages due to lots of Perl modules being uninstalled on my server and different areas of my website falling over. I’m now trying Dreamhost, which I’ve heard is not great support, but the package they offer is pretty incredible.
